BCEC Expansion Plans

Already the top US destination for international meetings and conventions, Boston is focused on meeting the needs of its customers with an expansion plan that would offer increased features and functionality.

Expansion plans would nearly double the size of the current facility adding:

• 335,000 to 400,000 square feet of exhibit space
• 105,000 to 125,000 square feet of meeting space
• Additional ballroom - 70,000 to 75,000 square feet
• A headquarters hotel with a minimum of 1,000 rooms, as well as 75,000 to 100,000 square feet of meeting/function space

Customer benefits of the BCEC expansion:

• Increased exhibit and meeting space will allow for larger and/or concurrent events, with increased date availability allowing customers to have their preferred dates. 
• The number of hotel rooms within a half-mile radius of the BCEC would increase by nearly 40%.

Latest Developments

• The ban that prevented building hotels near the BCEC has been lifted by the Massachusetts State Legislation.
• The MCCA has completed the purchase of 5.6 acres of land near the center, which will lead to the construction of two mid-priced hotels.
