 Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) is the world's largest biotechnology organization, providing advocacy, business development and communications services for its members worldwide. The BIO International Convention is the main global event for the biotechnology industry and attracts the biggest names in biotech. The convention also includes the world's largest biotechnology exhibition--the BIO Exhibition.
The BIO International Convention has been held in Boston several times. It was held at the Hynes Convention Center in 2000 and then again at the BCEC in 2007, where they experienced record-breaking attendance with over 22,000 attendees. Due to the continued success of the BIO International Convention in Boston, BIO has committed to bring the event back to Boston in 2012 and again in 2018.

American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery
 The mission of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) is to advance the art and science of ophthalmic surgery and the knowledge and skills of ophthalmic surgeons. The Annual Congress and Exhibition of ASCRS is held each spring in conjunction with the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA), the joint Commission on Allied Health Personal in Ophthalmology and Glaucoma Day.
ASCRS met at the BCEC in April 2010 with record breaking attendance of over 12,000 attendees utilizing nearly 29,000 guest room nights. It had been a long wait since they last met in Boston in 2000 at the Hynes Convention Center. ASCRS is scheduled to return to Boston at the BCEC in 2014, 2020 and 2024.
"Boston was a huge success! It has been 10 years since the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASCRS-ASOA) had hosted their meeting in Boston. ASCRS-ASOA had outgrown the Hynes and was excited to be able to bring their annual meeting to Boston again when the BCEC opened. We broke previous attendance records at the BCEC in 2010. The city hosted over 7000 physicians, nurses, technicians and administrators, and over 4500 exhibitors. Our attendees and exhibitors enjoyed Boston's rich cultural history as well as the dining and lodging options. They were overwhelmed with the BCEC. Its architecture, layout and services make it one of the premier convention facilities in the country." We are excited about returning to Boston!
